In this blog I plan to reflect upon environmental activism, sustainable living, DIY-culture, alternative economies, communal living, self-sufficiency, organic agriculture, climate change and other important topics of the degrowth sphere.
I have a background in environmental sciences and ecological economics. However, recently I decided to turn my back on academia and spent my time as a degrowth activist. What is degrowth, you may ask? Degrowth challenges the almost religious believe in economic growth as the single most important aim of western societies. I strongly believe that this focus is detrimental for most of us. Another world is possible and, more importantly, necessary for the survival of humanity.
In my first blog entry you will find out what this blog has to do with the Easter Islands.
